Creede OHV Club

Minutes of June 3, 2010

The June meeting of the Creede OHV Club was held at the home of Jim and Linda Martin and was called to order by Jerre Guthals, President, at 7:12 PM on June 3, 2010.  Jerre thanked the Martins for hosting the meeting and welcomed members and visitors.

A motion was made, seconded and passed to dispense with the reading of the minutes from the previous meeting as those minutes were e-mailed to members.

Linda Martin gave the Treasurer's Report, reporting that there was income of $365 (from dues) and expenses of $400 ($100 for a donation to the Creede Community Center and $300 for COHVCO) leaving a balance of $2,185.52.  There is an additional $175 for membership dues that has not been deposited.

In Joel Clark's absence, Jerre informed the group that many of the trails are open.  Fern Creek Trail is open only to the first lake.

When Jerre stated that the club is still in need of an Events Coordinator, Rex Mobley Sr. kindly volunteered to accept the position.

Old Business

In the past month:

$100 was donated to the Community Center,

10 club members constructed and installed the buck fence at Fern Creek Trail,

26 picnic tables for the Forest Service were assembled with the snowmobile  club,

The Club website was updated and emailed to members, and

a preliminary brochure/pamphlet was started (thanks to Linda Martin). Ray and BL Jordan have offered to help with the brochure.

New Business

Dennis Vincent reported that the Trail Maintenance class will be held on a Saturday, but the exact date is not confirmed yet.  A CPR class will be held on June 12th from 8:00 to 12:00 at the ambulance barn (There is room for 5 more is anyone wishes to attend).  The Chain Saw Safety class will be held on June 11th in South Fork.  And, the date for the ATV Safety class is to be set.

Dennis reiterated that many of the camp grounds will be closed this summer to install new tables and fire rings.  He has a listing in the office is anyone needs specific information.

Travel Management has been put on hold currently (questions should be directed to Tom Malecek  because much of the budget money has been funneled up north for the beetle kill projects.   There was discussion and concern expressed by many of the Club members about the beetle kill problem in our area.  County Commissioner Karl Kolisch volunteered to provide Jerre Guthals with 'the proper wordage and information' needed for concerned members to send letters to our congressmen.  Jerre will email members the information.

Two club rides and two work days for the month of June were discussed and scheduled as follows:

June 7th _ Work day at Fern Creek to install signs

June 14th _ Club ride to Rat Creek at 9:00 AM

June 24th _ Work day at Lost Trail to clear trail

June 28th _ Club ride to Larson Cabin/Ice Caves at 9:00 AM

The July meeting will be a hot dog cookout at 6:00 PM on July 1st at the Boy Scout Cabin.  The club will provide the hot dogs and members are asked to bring side dishes.

Karl Kolisch stated that the county has proposed to the city that ATV's be allowed on the back street (Loma/Rio Grande) of Creede.   He further informed the group that they would like to propose the study of a hydro system to heat the Community Center as the current diesel system is expensive.  Details will be provided to Jerre and members can address their letters of concern to the Major of the City ofCreede.
